This professional learning day will focus on two of TESEP’s workshops:
1. Hot Rocks: Geothermal Energy
2. Powerful Stuff: The Uranium Debate
Hot rocks examines the role geothermal energy currently plays across the globe and the future role it can play. Current Australian developments highlight the value of this new technology.
Powerful Stuff examines the geology and physics of uranium and how this fuel works in modern reactors. The workshop places the common fears associated with this technology in context. This professional learning also compares all sources of electrical energy: renewables and non-renewables and discusses them within the context of the Australian situation.
At the completion of these workshops teachers will be equipped with the background information and resources to assist them with teaching the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum for years 7-10.
